Metals are one type of Mineral used in Siddha medicine. Humans cannot consume these metals directly as Food or Medicine. But we can eat it by converting it into something else.
For example, Sodium is hard and dense metal. It is not found alone in nature because it is easily flammable. But the same metal turns into an edible salt with another one element Chlorine and is available to us in the name of Table Salt.
Since humans cannot take Iron, Zinc, or other metallic elements directly, Ancient Siddhas have often found a way to consume those Metals by converting them into Metal Salts to cure various diseases.
The Metals they used are ranging from common metals such as Iron, Lead, Tin, Copper, and Zinc to precious Metals such as Silver and Gold. Apart from these, they also use artificial metals alloys such as Bronze, Brass, and Tara created through Deposit Methods.
In the song "Uttrupar Thangam Velli Sembu Nagam, Urukkirumbu Venkalam Pithalai Taravum, Natthippar Kaareeyam Velleeyam than Nalamaaga Pathinondraga Pirithathayya", Bokar mentions all these Eleven Metals.
Our Traditional Siddha System has methods for extracting these Metals from mines, separating their elements, refining them to make it purified, combining them with other metals to make a chemical reactions, and burning to make them into Powder.
